Embraer rolls out E195-E2, its largest commercial jet
Second member of the new E2-Jets family, E195-E2 is the largest aircraft already produced by Brazilian manufacturer
Embraer presented this week the largest commercial jet ever built by the Brazilian company. The E195-E2 is also the largest variant of the new E2-Jets family, consisting of the E190-E2 (in flight tests) and E175-E2.
“The E195-E2 has the potential to significantly change the fleet profile of airlines around the world. With a cost per seat similar to larger aircraft, the E195-E2 becomes the ideal aircraft for regional business growth as well as low-cost business plans” said John Slattery, CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation.
The manufacturer expects that the E195-E2 will fly this semester and enter into service in the first half of 2019. The Brazilian airline Azul will be the launch operator of the aircraft, with 50 units ordered.
The E195-E2 is not a simple advanced version of the first E195. It is 9.35 feet longer than the previous version. Therefore, it can accommodate up to 146 passengers in a single class layout.
Its operation is much more economical than its predecessor. According to Embraer, it consumes 24% less fuel and has a 20% lower maintenance cost per seat. Thanks to this, it can fly for up to 2,450 nautical miles, 450 nautical miles more.
The new E2 jet family already has 690 orders, 275 of them firm orders and 415 options.
