Breeze Airways shows off its first A220-300

Low cost airline also confirmed addition of 20 new aircraft in the order made to Airbus

Breeze Airways unveiled its first Airbus A220-300 showing its livery. The aircraft, MSN 55128, is being completed at the Mobile, Alabama facility, the planemaker said.

The new US low cost airline’s first A220 is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter and will start at a delivery rate of one aircraft per month.

Airbus also confirmed that it has completed adding 20 aircraft to the original order for 60 A220-300s. The information had been circulating for months, but without confirmation from the carrier.

The forecast is that the 80 planes will be delivered over a period of six and a half years. Breeze’s first flights with the A220 will take place from the second quarter of 2022.

After debuting its flights in May, Breeze currently has a fleet of 13 E-Jets (10 E190 and three E195), operated through leasing. The aircraft used were brought from Air Canada and Azul, a Brazilian airline founded by David Neeleman, CEO of Breeze.

Embraer aircraft are used on direct flights between small and medium-sized cities over short distances. With the introduction of the A220-300, which has increased passenger capacity and autonomy, Breeze will begin US coast-to-coast flights.

The new carrier bets on a combination of unrivaled routes of the big airlines with affordable prices and several options for customizing the tickets purchased by its passengers.
