Belavia Airlines signs leasing agreement for three E195-E2

Belarusian airline to receive first aircraft in December 2020 from leasing company AerCap

Belavia Airlines confirmed this week a leasing agreement for three Embraer E195-E2 jets. The aircraft will be supplied by lessor AerCap between December this year and April 2021.

The Belarus airline has been an Embraer customer since 2018 and currently operates four E175s and seven first generation E195s – in addition, it has three CRJ-200s and 19 Boeing 737s.

“With the introduction of Embraer’s most advanced aircraft, Belavia will enjoy improved operating costs and versatility,” said Belavia President Philip Scruggs.

AerCap is one of the largest customers in the new series of E2 jets with 50 units ordered. Six of these planes, of the E195-E2 variant, were leased by Azul, the Brazilian airline that launched the model last year.

Waiting for the 737 Max

In March Belavia will receive another E175 that, like the other jets, will be leased. The airline also intends to rely on the 737 Max, of which it has an order for seven aircraft and awaiting the end of the grounding of the Boeing jet.

The option for the E195-E2 had been admitted by Belavia in September last year, however, with only two aircraft. The Belarusian company’s intention is to replace the oldest PS 737 in the fleet, from the 300 and 500 series.
