Azul will introduce its E195-E2 on international flights

Brazilian carrier announced that Embraer aircraft will be used en route to Uruguay in December

Azul Linhas Aereas is the launch customer of the E195-E2, the largest variant of Embraer’s commercial jet family. The Brazilian carrier currently has nine aircraft in its fleet, which complement 52 first generation E190 and E195 aircraft.

More capable, the E195-E2 can carry up to 136 passengers in the configuration used by Azul. As a result, it offers 18 more seats than the E195-E1, in addition to flying farther and with better fuel economy.

Although it still has a small presence in the airline’s fleet, the jet will eventually be used on Azul’s international routes.

The debut flight of the E195-E2 will take place on December 23 between the company’s hub in Viracopos and the city of Punta del Este, a well-known Uruguayan resort in South America.

Despite this, it will be a seasonal service, scheduled to run until January 30, 2022, with only two weekly flights.

Azul also announced this week the resumption of other frequencies to Uruguay, including connections between Porto Alegre, in Brazil, and the capital of the neighboring country, Montevideo.

During the pandemic, Azul maintained operational flights to Florida and Lisbon, in Portugal, but with much lower frequencies than before the social restrictions imposed by several countries.
